Peru: Cannabis and Medicine

Khiron held its first medical events directed to physicians in Peru last 23 and 24 of May in the Meliá Hotel in the city of Lima. The event took place during the Annual Update Course in Rheumatology, hosted by the Peruvian Society of Rheumatology and the results were satisfactory.
On Thursday May 23, Khiron threw a dinner for important Peruvian medical personalities, key opinion leaders and the directors of medical associations like the Peruvian Society of Rheumatology, internal medicine, neurology and palliative care. 


During the dinner, María Fernanda Arboleda, Medical Director at Khiron gave a conference named “Myths versus realities of medical cannabis: initial approximation”. The medical specialties selected for the event invitations are the most related and suitable for medical cannabis therapy. 


The activities continued Friday May 24, where, during the opening of the Annual Update Course in Rheumatology breakfast, 18 titular members of the Society were able to talk with Doctor Arboleda about the medical properties od the cannabis plant and her experience formulating these products. 


Andrés Galofre, cofounder and VP of Business Development at Khiron closed the events and explained the assistants the mission and vision of the company as a leader for the industry. 


These kind of events opens the debate of medical cannabis in Peru, country the company hopes to reach to impact the quality of life of its patients in a positive way. The participant doctors showed big interest in learning new therapy courses for their patients.
